Choo choo train

The kids are really into trains lately.

Here is a picture of an animal train that they made.

Here is a video of the train they made out of chairs. They even let Maggie come on the choo choo train.

Prayer for our Soldiers

Annie learned this prayer during her first week at kindergarten. Thought some of you might like to hear it. She was very excited to send it to her Uncle Joe and Uncle Nate.

Recap of the First Day

Flag Raising Ceremony and Prayers for the School Year

Fr. Jerry, Father Scott Wenschel, and Fr. John each prayed for the children. Principal Joe Mc Bride welcomed the Kindergarteners and new students. He also encouraged the 8th graders to be role models and leaders for the younger students at the school. Natalie Rynie, the music teacher lead the Star Spangled Banner.

Andrea seemed like she had a great first day. I had a great first day ONLY because it was only a half day. I could not wait for it to be over to see how she did. After school, Andrea jumped in the car and said "Mama if we learn our prayer and say all the words with our teacher, we get a prize!" A few minutes later, "Mommy, we have a music teacher. I bet you didn't know that we were going to have a music teacher. She had us say rules and other kids said things and they weren't rules. I said no running so I got the first rule." Leave it to Andrea to know the rules. She will always be the mom and teacher. I am glad that she was so excited to tell me about her first day at school.

A Mother's Prayer

Daily I pray that the kids will be healthy and safe. I pray for each one that they will grow up to know the faith and follow Jesus. Well this morning I smiled as Annie and Charlie played together. This alone would be an answered prayer! As I listened though, my heart melted. Annie had pulled out the laundry basket and was folding every person's laundry into a separate pile. A few minutes later, Charlie walks through the room and offers to help. Their conversation went like this:

Annie: "Did you know that it makes God happy when you help someone? "

Charlie: "Yeah!"

Annie: "When we are not helpful, that make God sad. You don't want to make God sad do you?"

Charlie: "I don't want to make him ANGRY!"

Annie: "Yeah, but we don't want to make him sad either."

They continued to clean and the conversation changed to silliness and jibber jabber, but for that moment it made me smile to hear my children try to do the right thing because they knew it would make God happy.
